Neigong & Qigong
The core practices of Daoist Martial/Healing/Energy Arts (i.e. Taijiquan, Baguazhang, and Xingyiquan) are called Neigong 內功 ("inner work") or Qigong 氣功 ("energy work"). These practices will help you to develop internal power and awareness to get or stay healthy and strong. They will provide you with the tools to feel inside your body, mind, and emotions and take control of all aspects of your life. They include breathing exercises, standing and moving practices.
Bagua Zhang
This is the oldest of the internal energy arts and has its roots in the Daoist monastic tradition. It was used primarily as a health and meditative art and has only become a martial art in the last several hundred years. The practice consists of mud-walking in a circle, energetic postures, and palm changes. It is the most invigorating of the Daoist arts and is distinguished by it's spiraling and spherical movements. Bagua will also help you to become flexible and strong. It's techniques can both rehabilitate and strengthen joints when done correctly.
Meditation
Meditation helps you to release stress, relax, obtain peace of mind, be present, and find spiritual development. I find that the beginning preparatory practices are rarely taught, so we begin to help you develop an internal awareness of all levels of your being. It can be done sitting, standing, laying down, or with movement. I teach the Water Method of Daoist Meditation which is more gentle and helps you go deeper.
